Only the most serious of Jews do Kaparot with live and rubber chickens at the same time
Ben is a third-year Rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City.

Born in Houston, Texas and involved in Young Judaea before he could walk or talk, Ben's primary formal Jewish education came from Jewish Day Schools in North Carolina and Michigan where he learned Hebrew, basic text study, and that he could excel in sports as long as only other Jews were playing.

Informal education at Camp Young Judaea Midwest in Wisconsin and Tel Yehudah in New York was supplemented by reading the Joseph Telushkin books he received as Bar Mitzvah gifts.

Ben was most recently a Very Serious Journalist in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
